I obviously never got to see Starr play with my own eyes, so I feel it’s all but impossible to appreciate the player. I know he along with John Unitas were favorites of my dad, so that counts for something.
One thing that sticks out in my mind about Starr was that while battling his own medical issues, he was dead set on making it Green Bay when they honored Brett Favre, his fellow Packer Quarterback, his fellow Hall of Famer. Seeing him struggle, yet accomplish his goal on being there to honor Favre, told me a lot about a man I knew very little about. He seemed like a better person than QB, and he was a helluva a Quarterback
RIP Mr. Starr
